Haiti
Servant Gift began working in Haiti in 2007. We have tried very hard to follow the Lords plan.
We started a child sponsorship program in Ganthier in and have impacted many children through this wonderful outreach.
I’m Larry Roberts and found my way to the Lord in 2005. From that time on I have been relentlessly working for the Lord and in 2007 after a couple overseas mission trips I followed the Lords calling to Haiti and in the paragraphs below you will read some of what we have accomplished.
I met Ladalia (Dada) in 2007. She was taking care of eight children in her childhood home in Ganthier, Haiti. Dada is a widow and has no biological children. She spent much of her youth working with American missionaries at a boy’s home in Port au Prince, Haiti. She trusts in the Lord and is always quick to pray and to follow His guidance.
In 2009, Servants Gift was able to lease a larger home and move Dada and the kids. We added on a bedroom and made other improvements to it. We had construction going on when the earthquake hit in 2010. Ganthier made it through the earthquake with little damage and our home became a refuge for many relatives and close friends.
In 2015, Servants Gift built a one story school building. Dada hired teachers and staff for the school and it quickly grew. Many in the community wish to have their children attend our school. The school is named Institution Chretienne Excelsior DE Ganthier (ICEG). In 2016 the building we had could no longer support the growing needs of the school. Dada stepped out in faith and we began to build the second floor of the school. The second floor was finished just days before school started in October of 2016. We now have 250 students!
Institution Chretienne Excelsior DE Ganthier is one of the few school in the area that offers computer classes and gives students the opportunity to graduate from high school. Most schools in Haiti only offer classes up through the 8th grade level. This means many will never graduate and thus will lessen their chances of success. Students at our school are given a greater opportunity to succeed through completion of high school. We employ fourteen full time staff and several part time staff. This school is one way to end poverty.
We began to do mobile medical clinics in Haiti in 2009 and continue this to present. We have saved many people in these clinics using simple medications that the poor are simply unable to buy. We have worked with other major medical providers in Haiti to treat and transform the lives of many more people.
In 2011 we purchased ground outside of Ganthier Haiti in hopes of building a new larger home for Dada and our kids. We have been unsuccessful in seeing this dream come true and we patiently await the Lords will, to show us His way. This work continues every day.
In Christ
